The grand celebration“Veedhi Viruthu Vizha” is an award ceremony which has stepped into the seventh year in Loyola College, Chennai. Veedhi virudhu vizha appreciates many street play actors and actresses by giving them an opportunity to perform their traditional art forms. The practise of traditional art forms helps people to express their shades of emotions. There are quite a lot of Traditional arts in Tamil Nadu, Many Street theatre artists exclaim that the traditional art forms are one of the prominent reasons for the development and welfare of the state.
Veedhi Virudhu Vizha brings thousands of artists who perform different artforms under one roof. It is a theaterical treat to the audience where their excitement will be boosted high on energy. The artists who travel up to Chennai just to make some earning to lead their daily life are the real hardworkers who are not paid respect for what they deserve. The main obstacle of the theatre artists and the folk artists is the recognition of their occupation.In this modern world, where are these folk artists earn their income through street plays, Uyilattam,Buthakabala attam, Thappatam, Bommalattam, Parai, Poikkal kuthirai, Mayilattam, Vazhuku maram, Kolattam, Silambam, Karagattam.
The artists are not well educated but their dedication towards their art forms educate discipline and many things that help us to shape ourselves. Their art is their education, each artists hava a back story, they have obstacles, they have dreams, passion and many more but are they given what they deserve. No, definitely not, but through this award function the impossible is made possible. On the first day there was book release and review going on apart from that the movies that are not only from a renowned film director but also from a debutant director which deserved awards was recognised and labelled with the awards.We aren’t educated, we don’t receive proper support from the government, we “fling and catch” our lives, though there’s free education till the higher secondary school, we lack in money and support to provide proper education to our children.
Also the crowd was addressed by Director. Cheran and Actor Parthiban and many famous writers who has paved the way for the forthcoming. On the second day, January 12, 2020 the oceanic rally got a start from Valluvarkottam to Loyola College. It began in the presence of the Chair person of Incredible India who was honoured by Dr. I. Kaleeshwaran (ayya). He (ayya) addressed the folk artists that he has put an word to the government regarding the proper rights and needs of the street theatre artists who strive a lot day-to-day. He was the voice over of many artists who are voiceless in their struggle of life. The Veedhi Virudhu Vizha is an energy tonic for every other folk artists who are not recognised for what they deserve.
The second day of the Veedhi Virudhu Vizha recognised seventy senior artists with Rs. 10,000 each and 650 artists were given remembrance gifts and 125 were given dhotis and cotton towels.The Keeladi excavations were praised by many writers to preserve our traditions.

The Keeladi Excavation was praised by many speakers in this ceremony and this was the Seventh Veedhi Virudhu Vizha after the six successful years. The various art forms from the remote areas of Tamil Nadu are still practised by the present and forth coming generation of the Folk artists. The benifit of this award ceremony is offered to the financially low families whose daily need is lead to a question mark.The Veedhi Viruthu Vizha is an event where the folk artists all over Tamil Nadu also from various put in a hand to recognise and preserve the tradions. They must be recognized and their talent must be in a position what they deserve must be their appreciation.
